Italy’s most famous variety, Sangiovese must make up 80% of a blend to be labelled Chianti Classico. If you’re looking for a more rustic style with savoury tannins and lots of dried herbs, reach for the Italian expression. If you are after something to sip while you chat, reach for an Australian expression as broadly speaking they show more fruit and a softer tannin finish.
We’re enjoying Vignole Chianti Classico and Oxbow.
