This was the first vintage made in the new cellar, which was still undergoing construction until the end of the year. Philippe Abadie, Alvina’s husband, had to handle most of the work at vintage, as Alvina was heavily pregnant. Their son, Pâris, named for his maternal great grandfather, eventually arrived a week late on 1st January, intelligently holding out for the 2022 vintage for his birth year!
Picking started on 19th September, a small crop with rot, which had to be strictly sorted. The wines have lower degrees than in 2020, 12% for regional wines up to 12.8% for most wines. Only three plots were harvested and pressed by them, using their vertical press. Anything they picked themselves was not chaptalised. All wines are now in bottle, since late September, using natural cork.
