Region: Geelong
Variety: Chardonnay
What's in the glass: Single vineyard, whole-bunch pressed, wild-yeast fermented in French puncheons (1/3 new), mlf and 15 months' maturation on lees in French oak. What a difference a vineyard can make! The Cornelius Kincardine presents a very different chardonnay face to its sister, Cornelius Sutton, being more obvious in texture, oak and weight. Mealy, bruised apple, peach skin, nougat, stone fruits indicate a wine in search of complexity. Mission accomplished on the palate. Resonates long Jenni Port 13 June 2021
