Region: Clare Valley
Variety: Riesling
What's in the glass: Riesling grown biodynamically at Grosset Polish Hill Vineyard (Polish Hill River sub-region), established in 1996 (30 years old). Hand harvested, free run juice, with no fining. Planted on unyielding hard rock (slate), the site has always demanded hand-working to meet the needs of each vine, and patience to match. The vines have responded by becoming more resilient and the grapes more expressive, both evident in this and recent releases.Wonderfully aromatic and intensely fragrant with lifted lime blossom and the smell of slate. Full-throttle power meets the vineyard’s finesse. Intense lime drives the mid-palate with precision, supported by chalky minerality and bone-dry structure. Persistent length reveals citrus complexity. Bright, captivating in youth, yet balanced with backbone to age gracefully. Cellar? “As long as you like” says Jeff – up to 25 years, or drink now.
