What's in the glass: A new project by the rising star Charles Van Canneyt, he purchased Domaine des Chezeaux in 2021 and is making his mark on the Gevrey-Chambertin appellation with his finessed viticultural and vinification styles from Domaine Hudelot-Noellat. This Clos des Chezeaux is a monopole covering half a hectare. Vines are up to 100 years old, planted in 1929, on mid-slope facing southeast. Siting just below the Premier Cru holdings Cazetiers.

Attractive aromas of cherries, sweet dark berries and peony introduce the 2023 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos des Chézeaux, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively palate built around sweet, powdery tannins. This well-situated vineyard surrounds the domaine's historic buildings, below premier cru Cazetiers. 89-91 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate.
