Region: Mount Gambier
Variety: Pinot Noir
What's in the glass: From an emerging wine region, just over the border into South Australia, we sought out Coola Rd, wanting to explore new expressions of Pinot Noir. The soils here are limestone, littered with flint rocks, and though slightly warmer than the Otways, the climate here is very maritime, with almost constant sea breezes keeping temperatures moderate. Picked on the 23rd February, fermented with 10% whole bunches, and matured for ten months in hogsheads, with 20% percent new wood.
Farming: Sustainable
Vegan Friendly: Yes
