Region: McLaren Vale
Variety: Grenache
What's in the glass: Fugazi - where it all started back in 2008. A wine that is famously named after the music that was playing in the Kombi van the first time Taras and Amber visited the site. Bush vines grown on ironstone interspersed through red clay in Blewitt Springs - now nearly 80 years old. Handpicked in mid-February crushed and left on-skins for three weeks before being pressed to old French barriques. A nose of red currants and satsuma plums, red berries follow on the palate, fine tannins balance the fleshy weight of a long finish with flourishes of persimmon and red berries.
