Region: North Canterbury
Variety: Chardonnay
What's in the glass: The 2023 North Canterbury Pinot Noir leads with licorice and sour cherry, dried mint/fennel seeds. In the mouth, the wine is structural and a little tart, with layers of firm tannin and acidity that verge on green. There are attractively earthy tannins here, which lend complexity and dimension to the fruit. It's a good wine in the end. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. 90 points Erin Larkin
