Lying just under Les Marconnets, Les Peuillets shares a border with Beaune’s Blanche Fleur vineyard. If you’ve ever visited Savigny, you would have passed the vineyard on your left as you enter the valley heading towards the village. The domaine tends a 0.57-hectare parcel of 1971-planted vines. A lot of sand runs through the argilo-calcaire here, which is partly responsible for the wine’s finesse and its seductive core of sweet, red fruits. Crafted with 20% whole bunches.
“The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Peuillets was a little introverted when I tasted it, showing a touch of reduction (perfectly normal at this stage of élevage), but it opens in the glass to exhibit notes of red berries, lilac and blood orange, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy palate framed by powdery tannins.” 90-92 points, William Kelley, The Wine Advocate
“Again, beautifully perfumed wine – crystalline! Ooh – outstanding clarity of perfumed flavour – like the Cent Vignes there’s a hint of structure – of rigour – but that will ease – what a Savignya Bravo!” Bill Nanson, Burgundy Report
