Region: Burgundy
Variety: Pinot Noir
What's in the glass: "Japanese winemaker Seiichi Sait moved to France in 2006, he then spent over a decade learning from others in Burgundy before buying a tiny 1.3ha of organic vineyard. Petit Roy wines communicate Seiichi's meticulous and tidy approach with his passion for wine. He has an allergy to copper-sulphate and avoids it at all costs, using biodynamic preparations in the vineyards like teas and essential oils instead. Oh Pinot Noir, how delicate a creature you can be. Beautiful vibrant and transparent colour. Red roses and soft raspberry lollies – not sweet hard candy, but gentle and rather nostalgic. Supple and moreish, red fruited and summery. Strawberries and spice, with a touch of raspberry. Plenty of depth with savoury notes from the stems." - Ryan Larkin, importer
