Established in 1988 the Domaine has been a beacon for producing pure and transparent wines with an unwavering commitment to quality and respect for the vineyard.
Prieuré Roch farms vineyards in some of Burgundy’s most famous villages with an enviable holding of 20 hectares which include several monopoles including Gevrey Chambertin Clos des Varoilles 1er Cru along with the imposing 5.2 hectare Clos de Corvées 1er Cru located in Nuits-Saint-Georges along the RN74. The Clos Goillote monopole located in Vosne Romanée is a rare .55 hectare plot fifty metres from La Tache & was previously owned by Domaine de la Romaneé Conti.
Prieure Roch has embraced biodynamic farming since its inception and Yannick Champ is carrying on the legacy of Henri Roch that to produce the best wines possible you must start by paying the utmost respect and attention to your vineyards & eschew any synthetic products in the vineyard and winery.
Vinification is 100% whole cluster fermentation with traditional punching down & remontage by gravity. There is no fining or filtering & all fermentations are completed with native/ ambient yeasts.
The 2021 was a vintage that has produced extremely small yields mainly due to the April frosts which affected nearly all of the Côte d Or. The Domaine ended up producing only 50% of a regular harvest & although the spring frost was the major contributor to the small yields the season was also influenced by high rainfall during the growing season. In the winery the teams where extra vigilant with sorting but with the demands of the Domaine only exceptional fruit made it to any fermentation vessels.
