Callum Powell is helping redefine what Barossa Shiraz can be. While he grew up surrounded by wine as the son of Torbreck founder Dave Powell, Callum has forged his own path, producing site-driven wines that favour perfume, freshness and finesse over sheer power. His experiences working with producers such as Jean-Louis Chave in Hermitage, Tyrrell's and Jasper Hill have shaped a philosophy centred on provenance and thoughtful, minimal-intervention winemaking.
Working with some of the Barossa's oldest and most revered vineyards, Callum farms sustainably and handles each parcel with restraint, allowing the unique character of sites such as Flaxman Valley and Ebenezer to shine. The result is a collection of elegant, expressive Shiraz that captures the spirit of the "New Barossa" wines of purity, balance and remarkable ageing potential.
At Winepress, we believe Agricola is one of Australia's most exciting young producers. These are modern Barossa wines that respect tradition while looking confidently to the future, making them equally rewarding to enjoy today or cellar for years to come.
